Recently my family and I was at the park. While our youngest play and run around my husband and I overhear this young man speaking the world’s news today and politics to a group of young fellas nearby. We hear him go on and on and on to this group of boys explaining this and that about what he thought he knew.
At the perfect timing my husband get’s up and says, ” baby I’ll be right back”. I look and follow his steps already knowing where he was going( yep, straight over to the young man). A few minutes later my husband comes to me and says” I’m going to give this young man and his nephews a ride home, do you want to ride?”
I stay behind to let our son finish playing and a while later my husband comes back. Upon entering the car I ask him “so what’s going on with the young man?” My husband goes on to tell me that he first asked the young man if he was saved and knew Jesus Christ. The young man tells my husband that he is saved.
My husband tells the young man who he overheard in conversation with the group of boys, that the one most important thing that was missing from his conversation was Jesus. He tells the young man that regardless of the news reports, picketing or rioting that’s going on in the world today it’s going to takes Jesus and Love in one’s heart to make it right( my husband said to me that those on the prayer line were just talking about this same thing ).
It’s so much going on in the world today and all people can find to talk about is this and that concerning the news, but what about the One with the good news? the ultimate news bringer? The One that can deliver, touch ,change and set free? What about that news? The news no one wants to talk about. The One with the news that can change the world’s news into kingdom news if they would just humble themselves and pray as it states in 2 Chron.7:14 New Living Translation
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
No one is talking about Jesus’s purpose as to why He came into this earth: John 3:17 New Living Translation God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. It seems that all people want to do is talk about what they are not willing to change (with Love) and that is how to spread it, speak it ,and demonstrate it daily.
People fail to realize that what they feed their ear gate, feeds their heart and what they feed their hearts it feeds their mouth gate to speak what’s in their heart.
Proverbs 2:2-12 New Living Translation

and concentrate on understanding.

and ask for understanding.

A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.
Back to the story…….
A couple of days later my husband receives a call from the same young man. It was a call of despair, a cry for help, and guidance. He goes on to tell my husband how he’s tired of his situation and he just wants to give up. He explains how at the age of 17 his parents took him to DEFACS ( Division of family and child services), and DEFACS took him somewhere (not known where) dropped him off and he was left to fend for himself.
The young man goes on to give his story about his being on the streets from the age of 17 to the age he is now 29, he goes on about how he can’t go back home, and how he can’t get a job because he has no ID or Driver’s Licence.
My husband goes on to ask the young fella if he prays and he says honestly”I pray but I don’t believe because nothing I pray for ever manifests. He asks my husband” Why does God allow the bad and evil people to be blessed? My husband tells him” just because you see people with material things doesn’t mean their blessed. Being blessed is having a connected relationship with Jesus. It’s the presence of God, that’s the blessing it’s not the material things you see. However God does provide for His children
Philippians 4:19 New International Version And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Jesus explains the meaning of Blessed
Matthew 5:2-11 King James Version
2 And he (Jesus) opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
People have the wrong misconception on that word blessed, and they throw it around so frivolously . God’s greatest blessing always rests in God himself. When we have that, we are truly blessed.
So, the moral of this story is to not allow yourself to get fed poison from the world’s media and to stop thinking someone is blessed because of the things they have. And most importantly, ” if God calls Please go, you never know who’s in need”.
