Growth is inevitable..............

WHAT DOES SPIRITUAL GROWTH LOOK LIKE?

Have you ever encountered someone in your lifetime where there was an instant connection between the two of you?
Have you ever wondered why it’s not that away with every new person you meet? Have you ever thought that it was something deeper than just saying “hello, my name is…. great to meet you”?
Is it safe to call that a spiritual connection other than anything else?
What does Spiritual Growth look like? Do you know? Can you recognize it within yourself? What about in others?
Can it be noticed by how often one goes to the worship hall or by the number of halls you’ve actually visited? Or by the amount of tithes and offerings you give?
Yeah, that may be a reflection but those things aren’t it by far. Spiritual Growth has everything to do with learning how God expects us to live so we as His children can please Him by living the way He tells us to.
Let’s take a look at Colossians Chapt. 1. Paul will truly show us what this growth is supposed to look like.
Spiritual Growth is growing to know how God wants us to live daily so we will please Him in all things. When you love something or someone you want to get to know everything about it or them, so it’s the same for growing spiritually.
If you want to grow more spiritually you’re going to want to know what the Intel of that means? You’re going to want to know about Jesus, you’re going to want to know the gospel, you’re going to want to grow in it, walk in it every day, spend time with people who can teach it to you. This is an indication that you want more, more of something you don’t have.
The more you mature the more you grow. As we read in (1 Peter 2) as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby. We start off on milk which is basic truths about God and His work. As we continue to grow in the basics by reading and studying everything about Jesus, but beyond the basics you one day will be able to chew, chew on more advanced concepts of the word of God. (Heb. 5:14)Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.
While not awaiting other’s to teach you and learn you up in the word of God. You have to teach yourself by studying to show yourself approved 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
It’s too many people who still wants to be spoon fed by those they look up to (and don’t get me wrong) your supposed to but to be spoon fed by Spiritual leaders telling you what you should think, what you should read and not read is not good enough for your spiritual growth.
Yes, one should seek out a church gathering hall and church family with strong, sound biblical truths that’s gospel centered and challenges you at every turn of the page.
This is just my opinion but anyone who has been a Christian that’s been seeking to grow and it’s been longer than a year should at least be able to feed themselves.
Feeding oneself by, reading and getting understanding of God’s word,
Decreasing in your severity of sin, Increasing in your faith and trust in God, By getting understanding behind the word of God, By hearing the Holy Spirit lead you to better wisdom of what you’re studying.
It all boils down or up to us becoming more like Jesus Christ Himself. As we see here in (1 Cor.11:1) Paul says “Follow me as I follow the example of Christ” – 1 Corinthians 11:1(KJV)
11 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Over time every Christian should be mature enough to where they too should be teachers of the word, but also grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ (2 Peter. 3:18) 8 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.
I’m not saying everyone that’s a mature Christian should get up on the stage and preach God’s word to the Church, I’m just saying that anyone who’s been a Christian for at least a year should be able to understand the word of God and be able to teach it to others.
I know that not everyone has the gift of teaching but we do all have the ability to relay, help and share the word of God with others so they to can grow.
Teaching the Gospel of truth is a biblical expectation for every Christian. Jesus said “GO”, go and preach – Mark 16:15 (KJV)
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Spiritual growth looks like (2 Peter 1:3-8) 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of what it truly means to be spiritual.
Learning how to grow spiritually is a life long journey that occurs when we read and apply God’s word to our everyday life as 2 Tim. 3:16-17 teaches us 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
In order for Spiritual growth to take place we must be taught, rebuked, corrected, and trained by God’s word. This will thoroughly equip us for every good work. When all’s said and done this is the epitome of spiritual growth.
It is allowing the acts of the flesh to be seen in you less and less and producing the fruits more and more. Knowing that it is and will always be the Holy Spirit that produces the fruits in us. Our job also is our submitting ourselves to the Spirit’s leading who produces the fruit of spiritual growth in our lives.
Take a look in Galatians 5:22-23 this is what spiritual growth looks like – 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
If these things are becoming more evident in your life than rest assure you’re becoming more and more grown in the spirit. And spiritual growth is genuinely occurring in your life daily.
Continue striving daily and giving it all you got and allow God to do what you can not.
BE BLESSED………..
