Have you ever asked God a question and He gave you an answer you didn’t want to hear? Well, He’s doing that a lot lately. ( John 17;17) Sanctify them by the truth, your word is truth. Trying to pleases everyone and look the other way is not God’s way… Paul puts it well “Am I now trying to win the approval of people, or of God?
If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ ( Gal. 1:10 )
When your being tugged from every side, being asked for advice, and being asked to make decisions, ( but, hearing God say) “stay in the lane that I have placed you, can be a frightening statement for someone to hear that’s ” marching to the beat of their own drum”, and not allowing the Holy Spirit to guide them in all that they do, even when they don’t think they’re hurting anyone.
In (Gal. 5:16-25) Paul is exhorting us to walk, be led by, and keep in step with the Holy Spirit. We are supposed to be in the habit of listening to and following the Spirit’s guidance in our lives…..( right? ) because Who knows us better than our field Commander and Chief? Without Him, we get off course and off track which tends to lead us out of step for the path He has for us.
Who else can lead you better?
Who else can keep you in line?
Who else is going to keep it (100) whether you want to hear it or not?
That’s right! no one but Him, because He loves us and only wants the best for us….. So, when we go off on our own to be a Man Pleaser rather than a God Pleaser you start to go down a lonely path that is with (me, myself and I)…..
Listen, being a Christian there is no marching to your own beat (why) because you need a Commander….someone who is Strong and someone who can keep you in line, and lead you in all of His ways… ( the right ways, I must say )
This for sure is true that He is the internal instrument that is there to keep us. If we are going to mirror what Paul suggests in Galatians, by keeping in step and walking with the Spirit, we have to be careful not to remove ourselves from faithful and sacrificial living, no matter the person, place or thing…..
Let’s remember that as believers you are here on earth to lead men out of the darkness of this world. So, our aim is to please God, not man.
