Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. (James 3:3)
Let’s look at that Scripture another way…The spiritual bit is the Word of God which brings about obedience and turns about our whole body to follow the Word, His Word of truth…….
How we use our tongues shows clear evidence of where we are spiritually. If we choose to use our tongues for the good of others by speaking love, His Word can and will change everything about us, including our words…..trust me!!
What you have coming out of your mouth is a great indicator of your heart’s condition….. Jesus said: “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34)
One thing for sure we have all made plenty of mistakes with our choice of words a time or two or three or four.
If we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way, but we know in ourselves we can not. …. However, being.God minded at all times is the only way to help us think before we speak. (James 3:2)
Our only hope in achieving self discipline is by allowing the leadership of the Holy Spirit to lead the mastery of our tongue, and staying reminded that we are Christ’s, and that we are being made more and more in His image every day.(2 Corinthians 3:18) So, all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
Did you know that the tongue in your mouth illustrate’s one’s thoughts and intents of their heart? The Word says “It is from within, that from “out of the heart,” the mouth speaks…… (Matthew12:34)
12:34)
Understand this……that person who calls themselves a believer with the harsh tongue must discern for themselves and with the help of the Holy Spirit that those words aren’t just coming from ” out of the blue”, but that they are being spoken from that stony heart of yours….(
(Proverbs 4:23-24) Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
(Proverbs 15:4)A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
The tongue and its most critical ally is the heart — whether the heart has been hardened by sin or reborn by grace it will always be the go – between.
Just like a spark of a match book can cause a fire and destroy an entire forest, So!! can a tongue. It will either cut down or lift up……remember that… It’s with the tongue of a sharp word, an unrestrained statement, or a hardened heart that can cause the act of mindless words to be spoken – by the putting down of another person, and cannot always be extinguished by an apology of, “I’m sorry
It’s with the tongue of a sharp word, an unrestrained statement, or a hardened heart that can cause the act of mindless words to be spoken – by the putting down of another person, and cannot always be extinguished by an apology of, “I’m sorry. ”
Words flicked off that tongue of yours can devour and destroy a life or relationship within seconds….please keep that in mind…..
Spoken words have such force, that they can inspire, enlighten and cheer up, but they also can demoralize, mess with one’s head and even take apart.
For this reason, we should always choose words by the leadership of the Holy Spirit in what we say with care and with the building up of people instead of the tearing down of them.
(1 Thessalonians 5:11)Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
(Ephesians 4:29)Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Be Blessed…..
