What comes to mind when you hear the words Spiritual Poverty? Do you think about being poor in Spirit, which means ” we all need Jesus and the Word of God”.
The Kingdom of Heaven is home to the poor in spirit ( why ) because they’re the ones who realize that they’re only poor in spirit because of the lack thereof, of God and His Word and His ways of doing things, which brings about spiritual poverty.
(Isaiah 66:1) This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? Could you build me such a resting place?
Being poor in spirit helps a person realize the need for a Savior, the need for that someone who paid the price for their sins, which could not be obtained by their own doing….
Being poor in spirit means that you can recognize that you, on your own can not gain, obtain, justify, or purchase any type of spiritual blessing… And, that without God no one has the ability to grow spiritually on their own.
You may be asking yourself, “how does that happen? How does someone become “poor in spirit”… You become poor in spirit by identifying the need for God, the only One able to provide you with the spiritual life needed that is so lacking.
Without spiritual poverty one would never recognize they have a need for spiritual help, and would never ask for the help to grow and mature spiritually. (Matthew 5.3)
Focusing on this scripture in (Matthew 5) where Jesus was on the mountain speaking to His disciples preparing their hearts as they listened. He said,“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus was telling them that, in order for them to truly understand the words He was speaking they must first prepare their hearts -their spirit man – to become so desperate, hungry, and thirsty for what He was about to say that nothing else at that moment should matter…..( why) because what He was about to tell them concerned the Kingdom.
He wanted them to know that If they would humble themselves and hear His words they would be ready to receive with understanding and revelation all that He was about to instruct them in, so that they could rule and reign in the Kingdom of Heaven!” right here on earth.
(James 4:10 )Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
Being poor in spirit means recognizing one’s inability to grow spiritually. It means recognizing and turning to the “One” who is able to provide the spiritual backing that’s needed.
Without spiritual poverty, one would never notice his need for help, so help would never be asked for in order to gain spiritual growth.
Let’s agree from here on out to never look at these words ( Spiritual Poverty) as evil or bad again, because it’s not, all these words describes is a (Need For) ‘”period”…….It forces one to prioritize, examine, and conclude what things are truly spiritually needed, crucial, and mandatory.
It forces you to think differently and want the things in life that matters the most………KINGDOM!!
it opens your eyes to knowing that a Savior is not only needed but down right necessary!!
One thing that has to be realized is this, we are here to SERVE with God’s servanthood, here to GIVE without looking for anything in return, here to PASS on the knowledge and understanding we get from growing in Christ to enrich others.
And, because we want to become so rich in the Knowledge of God, that when we go to open our mouth to speak on Him, the only (One) that’ll be doing the speaking is the Holy Spirit through us… .
Understand this, the only way you can help the growth of your soul is if you discover and fulfill that impoverished, empty, haunting side of you, and dive into that deeper need within yourself, that part of you that needs Jesus, almost craves Him.
This is not something you can do on your own, in your own natural thinking (oh’no) it can only be fulfilled by, responding to the Power and Presence of a higher knowledge than yours….. a whole new thought process that can not be explained with a human finite mind….It can only be (Isaiah 55:8-9)For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts
YES!! a God given guidance by the Holy Spirit that brings about a discovery, experience, and expression with great kingdom purpose.
Be Blessed……
