Spiritual Layover... It's Coming

L-a-y…O-v-e-r…

A Spiritual Layover, what is it and what on earth does it mean…

If you have ever been through a spiritual layover before you certainly know where this conversation is going…..

A layover, most may say “oh yeah, I know what that is,” it’s ( a period of rest or waiting before a further stage in a journey)…

Yes it is, but this layover is from God!

So what’s the difference between an Airport layover, and a Godly layover “if the definition is the same,” you may ask?

Well, the difference is that the cause or reason is a spiritual one.

A God-enforced layover can not only sometimes take days or weeks, but yes sometimes even months, depending on if He has to prepare you for another type of strategy (Isaiah 40:31) “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Just know that on your journey with God, It can sometimes take time for Him to establish or initiate a way of execution, not because He wants you to pawn away and wonder saying, “ok God what’s going on” (oh’ no) not at all, but while you are in that layover state He wants you to just trust Him no matter how long it may seem like it’s taking . (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths.

 Please understand…

that God’s thinking is on such a broader scale than ours, and He’s not only thinking about what He needs to be executed – but what He wants you to learn and grow from throughout the process as well….(Psalms 139:17)

Your thoughts are far beyond my understanding, much more than I could ever imagine.

This type of Layover can be brought on for a host of reasons like….

#1 New circumstances that weren’t there prior concerning your journey….

( In your walk with God anything can come up that you are not aware of, in the spiritual realm that only He can see( unless He opens up your spiritual eyes to see) Like a trap from the enemy (2 Kings 6:17)And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Please remember…..Satan  can also gain knowledge of your steps as well, and easily put 2 & 2 together and try to throw a wrench in God’s plans…..(Psalms 91:3)

The Lord will keep you safe from secret traps and deadly diseases.

#2 A deeper spiritual understanding as in what you are about to walk into…

(God may need you to take a fasting period before leading you into a  battle you were not prepared for) what I mean by that is this..

Yes, you may very well pray to God and speak with Him on a daily

basis, but when a fast is being called for it’s on a whole other level of spiritual Awareness, Oneness, and Submission (Ezra 8:23)

So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was entreated of us.

Just know that some battles can only be won by fasting and prayer(Mark 9:29) And he(Jesus) said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Listen, things are happening in the Spiritual realm that we neither know about nor understand outside of God revealing those things to us.

There are so many more reasons why a layover can be called for, but let’s focus on these 2 for now.

A trap and/or a  battle…..

A trap, Satan thinks he’s about to set, to derail God’s plans, and a battle (a spiritual one) that only God can win with using you “His Ambassador”

(2 Cor. 5:20)

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.

Once you gain the concept of (YOU) being one of God’s primary ways that He works on this earth, the easier it’ll be where your understanding is concerned…

God for sure doesn’t need us, but He wants to use us more than we think.

God wants to use your body here on this earth to operate for Him and to get things done, did you not know that????  (Mark 16:15)And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.

Oh Yeah, and just in case you need to know, He has also sent you here with a plan and purpose of His own to be gained(Jer. 29:11)For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

We as believers are supposed to be Kingdom-minded all day every day (well we should be at least) Yep, at God’s beck and call.

” You and I as His” should be right there asking Him every day, “what do you need from me today Father” and ‘how may I be of assistance?” (2 Timothy 2:15)Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

Just know that the same way Satan (the deceiver)  is fighting for our lives to be won for his kingdom,  (the kingdom of darkness) is the same way God (Our Father)is stretching out His unchanging hand to win souls for His (kingdom of Light).…

( 1 Peter 5:8)Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

(1Tim 2:3-4)This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

God created you and me for Himself, not for Satan’s use….(Isa.43:21)This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise( Isa.43:7)Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.’”

So now, with that understanding gained, let’s gain the understanding of something else.

That new understanding would be this.  With God being God, is a layover needed? And why He put us through one anyway?

Good question…

That question can be answered in a lot of different ways, but as I said earlier, it’s all for your benefit…. because during this layover God wants to teach you, and show you, more about leaning on Him, trusting in Him, and relying on Him and Him alone (Psalm. 32:8)

For I shall teach you; I shall make known to you the way in which to go and I shall set my eyes upon you.

Or, I could just say “because He’s God and He can do that.

But that would defeat the purpose of trying to explain to you what a layover’s purpose is for, and why they take place right?

God’s Word does say,

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

(Proverbs 4:7)

Just know this much is true…… God will never allow you to walk into something that’s been set up by Satan to hurt or harm you, or derail His plan He has for you.

So yes!! That bump in the road can cause God to put His plan on temporary pause, or cause a layover to occur that may result in another route, or even another type of execution….As mentioned earlier.

Look at it like this….God is sending you because someone has been crying out to Him for help, and those whom He’s been trying to use on that person’s behalf, aren’t being obedient to His call, as far as doing what He’s asking of them

(Luke 6:46)“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?

So, He sends you! in all your obedience to get it done.

But, while you’re headed there God sees that something isn’t right ( whatever that something may be) and before sending you one step closer,  He must find out the reason for that bump in the road, and that may cause that layover for however long He sees fit.

Yes, we also know that God is God, and He can do all things but fail, and one of those things is, fixing messes without your knowledge, but why do that if He has chosen you to learn on this journey as well, so He keeps you aware and in the loop..

So no, it’s not as easy as you may think… because everything God does He does with purpose, the purpose of getting help to the one crying out to Him for it, and also to the one He”s sending to deliver the help….

(Romans 8:28)

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

So when a Spiritual Layover touches down in your life (cause it will), just know God is trusting you to be obedient to the call, and to carry it out, no matter the length of time…..

Be Blessed….
