What is PRAYER to you?

Prayer, What Does It Mean To You?

Question, what is prayer to you?

How do you view it?

Is it something you hold high or something you put off?

Is prayer to you a time that you and God have conversations no one else knows about?

Is prayer to you a time of  bonding with your Father?

I ask these questions because so many people think that prayer is something that comes from you yourself, but in all actuality it’s something the Spirit ( Holy Spirit) does through you…

Just like the scripture says in (Romans 8:26)And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

Just remember that prayer is not something you do, it’s something that the Spirit who is in you, does through you!

Yep guys! He’s the Gift from God that keeps on giving. He’s the Gift who lives inside of each and every person who believes in Jesus as their Savior. (John 14:26)The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you.

He’s part of the Trinity ( Father, Son, Holy Spirit)  He’s the One who works in us! All that is of Jesus so we can produce His character, live in His peace, and exude His love towards others…

This is something we can’t do on our own. (John 15:5)I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Just knowing how deep He is connected to our prayer life and relationship with God, how can you not want to get as close to Him as one possibly can! While residing here in the world? (1 Corinthians 2:10)these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

Prayer in your life should always be seen as the number (1) top priority, like breath is needed to exist, and food and water is needed to survive on this planet. Your connection to God through the Holy Spirit is what keeps you alive spiritually, Amen! (John 6:63)It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Prayer is one of the things that keeps you alive, as well as in step with God in the Spiritual….If you commune with Him, He’ll commune with you…

To commune means to focus on God. It means to converse, talk,  communicate, share your heart and mind with God in prayer…(Jeremiah 33:3)Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

The problems come in when you put prayer second place to everything else…

A problem why?  Because that’s when it’s easiest for  the enemy to creep in and disrupt your whole world!

Because without a daily prayer life and communion with God, you’re seen as an easy target to the devil…. he’s watching your every move, and he’ll be the first one to notice your lack of interaction with the Father, and as the prowler he is, he’ll see you as Shark Bait! (1Peter 5:8)Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

This is why you cannot allow your prayer life to lose its power!

So let’s keep praying!  Not in the flesh(just to be talking), but Spirit only…. believing what you pray, Amen! (Mark 11:24) For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.

Hmm, you may be asking, how does someone pray in the flesh? That’s impossible isn’t it?

Believe it or not, it’s actually first nature to a lot of people..,.praying in the flesh is just someone praying in their own strength. it’s like coming to God in prayer with a laundry list of things to suffice you and not praying to build the relationship between you and God.

Do you recall in the Word, when Jesus spoke on the Pharisees?

When He said, “don’t pray like the Pharisees pray, for they stand on the street corner to be seen by everyone.” (Matthew 6:5) And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

They were acting for people, putting on a show, as if they were performing at “Circus Soleil”🤭 (my thoughts of course)!

Jesus told us to get in the closet where no one can see us. (Matthew 6:6)But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

Prayer is not an action—it’s an interaction—it’s not supposed to be treated as a show. It’s an interaction that takes place in and through the Holy Spirit, so when you carry on like  “pretenders,”  “hypocrites,” “men pleasers,” for show, this is praying in the flesh!

Just stay mindful of what (Romans 8:26‭-‬27) says, Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

So remember, even though you have a part to play, it’s never you! But always the Spirit praying on your behalf and making intercession for you, Amen!

Be Blessed….
