The Reason Behind A "Dried Up Brook"

The Purpose Behind A Dried Up Brook….

Please take this time to read (1 Kings 17) before you read this blog…..

So, I pose a question to you, have you ever experienced a time in your life where everything was doing good, looking good, feeling good, running good, then boom all HELL breaks loose. (Jeremiah 17:7-8)But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

What once was an everyday familiar is now a goner, what once was comfortable, is no longer that at all, and what was once predictable is no longer a choice for you .

WHAT HAPPENED!! YOU ASK..

When a job you loved, just ended without warning

When a relationship you had with someone for years comes to an abrupt end, and you don’t know why..

You Ask…WHAT IS HAPPENING!!

You start questioning God, you start questioning yourself, ‘ what did I do, What didn’t I do, what is going on, how and why is this happening? All these questions unsettled in your heart, seeking an answer… (MAtt. 7:7)“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Well, let me be the first to say, if you are living a life for Christ and have totally handed it over to Him, then you have given Him permission to grow you and bring you up spiritually! He wants you to advance! Do you remember the lyrics to ( Micah Stampley’s) song, it goes something like this “Take my heart and mold it
Take my mind, transform it
Take my will, conform it, To Yours, To Yours, Oh, Lord”

He wants us all to come up higher, so he changes the direction of things, He shakes things up a little or a lot … just to remind you of that day you handed it over, and He says, “Hey, your life does belong to Me doesn’t it?” okay, so it’s My time now! Let’s Get It! (Gal.2:20)My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me

All that to say this, that your life was birthed out of a place in His…. And He  allowed your “brook” to dry up and run dry, yep! Just to show you, and remind you, that He is the One in control and His time to use you, is now! So, get uncomfortable for a moment and trust Me in your ” NOW,” Amen! When God is ready to use you He will make things in your life uncomfortable…..( 1 Kings 17:6-7)
The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook. But after a while the brook dried up, for there was no rainfall anywhere in the land.

God knew what He needed from Elijah and He knows what He needs from you!  He knows how to get your attention, and He knows how to get you where He needs you!

He knows what needs to happen (or not happen) to get you to that place of attentive listening… that place where you look up! He cannot allow you to have confidence in yourself, this is the time to place your confidence in Him! A place of total surrender! (‭‭Prov. 3:6) Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

This is that place where He wants you to remember the last Word He spoke to you, the last promise He made to you, the last assignment He said would come! This is the time to bring all that back to the forefront of your mind, just so He can prepare you for what He needs you for….Amen! (John 14:26)But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

God wants you to step out and find out just how much He can use you, and where He can take you in your faith, but it requires you to step out in the God kind of faith, the faith that “Bill Winston” talks about in his book, ( The God Kind Of Faith). where he says, The God Kind of Faith is the same faith that God used to create the universe and every born-again believer has been given ‘the measure’ of it

(Romans 12:3)For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Yes! That Great faith, Amen!

So yes, God allowed your  “brook” to  dry up, because He wants you to  “move”, move to that place of greater faith that He placed on the inside of you!

God knows that there are people who need what He has placed on the inside of you, and He cannot allow that to grow stagnant. (Jam. 2:17) In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

He knows there are people out here that are (unsaved), who are in need of your God given gifts and abilities, so He needs you to “move out.”

God needs you to move beyond that place of comfort, beyond that place you’ve made so comfy It’s hard to move out of, but the time has come where He is calling on you, depending on you, and expecting you to be ready, and to trust that, if He’s sending you, He’s already prepared you and the way, Amen! (Eph. 2:10)For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Needless to say, in order for you to grow in your faith you must be obedient to His assignment on your life, and Go! Go to that place He is calling you, no matter how much outside of your comfort zone you think this is, do what He is asking of you and watch Him get the Glory in the end, and watch how much your faith grows..(Eccl 3:1)Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses. (Rev. 4:11)You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased. (Rom.1:17)For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed in a way that awakens more faith]. As it is written and forever remains written, “THE JUST and UPRIGHT SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.”

No one ever knows just how built they are for the assignment, until they put their fear aside and step out into the unknown, in confidence that He is with you, and that He will never leave you or abandon you. Allow Him to show up in you for others, Amen!(Heb.13:5)Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I WILL NEVER [under any circumstances] DESERT YOU [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], NOR WILL I FORSAKE or LET YOU DOWN or RELAX MY HOLD ON YOU [assuredly not]!”

So, what is it in your life that you are trying to figure out? Has your brook run dry? Are there questions you want answered concerning the unknown of the sudden changes going on in your life you don’t understand?

Well, you won’t find out until you ask God. You’ll never be able to figure out what is going on until you reach out and call out to Him. (Jer. 33:3)Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ He is allowing it to take place for a reason, and trust that even in the unknown, it will be for your good and His glory, Amen! ( ‭‭Rom. 8:28 ) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

So, what place is God trying to move you to today?  Is it to a place where He wants you to experience His miracles, but in order to experience it, a great step of faith is required?

One thing you mustn’t do in this time, and that is be mistaken for the reason your ” brook dried up,”  thinking that it has something to do with the enemy, or with something you’ve done wrong concerning sin, because thinking like that without consulting the Father, will have you miss out on the purpose of it all… Was it due to sin where Elijah was concerned? NO! It was for God’s miracles to be seen, and their faith to grow. (1 kings.17:8-16 & 17-24)

All we have to understand and remember is that God is first place in our lives and nothing comes before Him, so when He calls, please answer with “ Lord speak, for your servant is listening” Amen! (1 Sam 3:10)And the LORD came and called as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel replied, “Speak, your servant is listening.”

What I believe people often forget is, that we’re not here on this earth on our own accord, and that our reason for being here is to bring God the Glory at all times. Amen!(Rom.11:36)For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen!

Never forget that, the God of Elijah back then, is also your God of today, and the way He cared for him, is the same way that He wants to care for you right now as His child. (Heb. 13:8)Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Ponder On This…..You have never been called by God to live a life of ease and comfort. Obeying and surrendering are His callings. Amen! (Jer.7:23)This is what I told them: ‘Obey me, and I will be your God, and you will be my people. Do everything as I say, and all will be well!’ ( Prov.3: 5-6)Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Be Blessed….
