We Have Big Shoes To Fill…

I don’t claim to know it all, but one thing I do know is this “we have some big shoes to fill”

John 20:19-22 NLT
Jesus Appeared to His Disciples

19 That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. 20 As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! 21 Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” 22 Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit WOW, WHAT BIG SHOES TO FILL…….

What do think when you hear that?

Do you say “ How on earth can I do that in this world today?”

Or, Do you say “How can I do that and I’m not perfect as He”

Or, do you say “all these heathens in this world I wouldn’t think about it”

If Jesus thought that way about us would we now be the righteousness of who He is? Not a chance. We would all be headed for that hot fiery place called HELL· A place of unquenchable fire (Mark 9:43, 48)

    • An actual place where both body and soul go (Matt 10:28).

    A place of unending torment (Luke 16:23).

  • A place that is “salt with fire” (Mark 9:49).
  • A place of weeping and gnashing (or grinding) of teeth (Matt 24:51).
  • A place full of fire (Matt 5:22).
  • A lake of fire (Rev 20:14-15).
  • A place of eternal blackness and utter darkness (Jude 1:7. 23).

The calling of His disciples are to be His eyes , ears, hands and feet in this world today.

It almost feels like He wants us to have His back, but in all actuality it’s the other way around, He has ours.

Lord knows we need His backing everyday of our lives, no matter where He leads us , sends us, or calls us to.

We need His presence at all times.

Just like He needed to be in His Father’s presence alone everyday in prayer, so do we…

Our needing Him should be like the blood running through our veins…

Or, like our hearts beat..

Or, like us inhaling and exhaling to stay alive, that simple!!

Do you even know what the calling of a Disciple is?

A Disciple is someone who has chosen to follow Jesus Christ and submit to His teachings. Matthew 4:19 Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”

A Disciple is someone who is faithful.

Disciples are not perfect. Disciples are not super saints. John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
James 3:2
Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.

A Disciple is called to represent God in this world. Jesus said “as the Father has sent Me, I also send you”.

Now tell me that’s not a big order to fill.

It’s a big order, but it is also possible because He is right there by our side the whole time.

All we have to do is go where He tells us to go, and do what He tells us to do, and not divert from the plan He has for us, and do a Jonah.

I know you all remember that story: Jonah 1: 1-17 (take some time out to read it)

All believers have been called to represent God.

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Disciples do struggle, in some form or fashion, and if they say they don’t, they’re lying to themselves.

Because even in our walk for Christ we will still face trials and tribulations. But the good thing about that, is this…. He has overcome the world: John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

1 John 5:4
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
What does it mean to overcome? To be an overcomer? It means this : To get the better of in a struggle or conflict; conquer; defeat:

To overcome the enemy… to prevail over (opposition, a debility, temptations, etc.); surmount:

To overcome one’s weaknesses.

So, that means that you’re an overcomer.

I’m an overcomer.

Man!! we all are overcomers in Christ.

That is something we all should shout about with praise, and thanks over, because if it had not been for Him……….where would we be!!

We already know that answer from earlier in the text. Thank You Jesus!!!!!!

Ok so, if He had already overcome this world and all the mess in it even way back then, and we know He is with us on that path He has assigned to us ,we should already know that He has us, and we too can overcome.

A Disciple of Christ does not live a struggle free life.

you either overcome your struggles or be defeated by them, and defeated we are not because we are OVERCOMERS!!!!.

Satan will try to use our struggles to defeat us, but we also have to remember that we have authority over that (Foe) and He can do nothing to an OVERCOMER. Luke 10:19 Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. He-He-He…Take that Satan……

One last thing… for the road.

Always, remember who you are in Chris.t, and stand your ground, because He has built you to endure and to carry out whatever mission He has assigned to you.

Remember that you are a what????? That’s right an OVERCOMER…HALLELUJAH!!!!!

    Its very well written; I love what youve got to
    say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
    Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or 2 pictures.
    Maybe you could space it out better?
